Right To Play at the BUCS Championships
We have just got back from one of our annual highlights, the BUCS Championships in Sheffield. The Championships are the pinnacle of the University sporting calendar and saw thousands of students descend on Sheffield to compete, as well as thousands of spectators and supporters. Right To Play is proud to be the charity of BUCS, and meet students, many of whom may have a career in sport ahead of them, celebrate their achievements and raise awareness about how we use sport in our programmes around the world.

This year Right To Play was the official charity of the BUCS Football and Futsal competitions. We witnessed some fantastic action at Brammall Lane, Don Valley and Ponds Forge International Arena. Congratulations to everyone who took part, as it really is the most important thing, but in particular the winners from MMU Cheshire, Northumbria, Teeside and Leeds Met. Of course we are not a biasd organisation but we would like to make a special mention to our Student Ambassador Henry Robbins and his Brighton Panthers Futsal team who were unlucky to lose on penalties in the Trophy Final to Leeds Met, rest assured he converted his penalty.

When we weren't watching people kicking footballs and futsals we witnessed some fantastic action all around Sheffield from Athletics to Water Polo, Basketball to Trampolining, Badminton to Swimming and some Karate thrown in for good measure. We could wax lyrical about all the running, splashing, dribbling, kicking and other present participles that we saw but BUCS have conveniently done that here. Again as an unbiasd organisation we certainly shouldn't congratulate our Student Ambassador Deirdre Lynch for placing 18th out of 67 in the elite women's trampolining category but...
It was lovely to meet so many of you, to those of you who promised you would join us for the Brussels to London bike ride - we expect you to fulfill your promise. Or if you would like to support us from the comfort of your own University, be recognised in our BUCS Championships round up article next year and you know actively take part in a leading Sport for Development NGO and change thousands of children's lives for the better do join us as a Student Ambassador.
