Right To Play Contributes to WEF
To meet this end, and as a precursor to the event, the World Economic Forum have been running a Global Redesign Initiative that has been gathering data from participants around the world, a large number of whom are youths. Right To Play were asked to contribute to the scheme, and in late 2009 conducted focus group discussions involving 552 youths involved with our work in Jordan, Lebanon, Uganda, Liberia, Rwanda, and the UK. These youths were simply asked to redesign a better world that aligned more effectively with youth needs. The results were predictably diverse, and can be viewed here. Their collective views will be championed by the Youth Task Force in Davos with the intention of ensuring global youth opinions are better represented at the policy table.
Right To Play's CEO, Johann Olav Koss, has also been invited to the Global Agenda Council on “Sports in Society” - a working group at the World Economic Forum chaired by Wilfried Lemke, Special Adviser to the United Nations Secretary-General on Sport for Development and Peace.
