Jordan Hallpike receives an award
He got it!Ambassador rewarded!
We are very proud to announce that Jordan Hallpike, our student ambassador from Brighton, has just received a Santander-Abbey Student Awards for Community Engagement and Volunteering. These awards recognise outstanding contributions in the fields of community engagement and volunteering by current University of Brighton students. This is probably not the first time you hear about Jordan. He was the first Student Ambassador to be recruited in the UK, back in October 2009. Since then, his fundraising glory has known no bounds. Jordan has used his position as captain of the football team at Brighton to spread the values of our work to a very wide audience. He encourages mass participation in community events such as music gigs, sports days, and fun runs... He has also taken the time to talk about his role to BUCS to encourage other students around the UK to become Ambassadors.
Jordan has worked hard to raise nearly £2000 this year. When you consider that it costs £15 a year to offer a child an education with Right To Play, his efforts will directly allow 133 children the chance to acquire life skills, have fun, interact, and learn about critical issues such as how to protect themselves against HIV/Aids and Malaria; about the importance of cooperation and tolerance above violence; and about how to keep healthy. This is a tremendous achievement, and one that will set these girls and boys in good stead for the rest of their lives.
This award does not only recognize the amazing contribution our ambassadors can make, and have made to our organisation and to children’s welfare across the developing world. It also shows the positive effects student ambassadors can have on the local community, and how they can be rewarded for their efforts.
Well done Jordan, you really deserve this award!
