Day and NightRecords in the Net in the name of RTP
A team of fearless students from Cardiff University Lacrosse Club will attempt to break the Guinness World Record for the longest game of Lacrosse ever played, all in the name of Right To Play.
Lacrosse is played using a solid rubber ball and long handled racket with a net. Using the net to carry the ball, the aim is to get the ball into your opponents' goal.
The current record holders are MetroLacrosse in the US, who played for 8 hours and 16 minutes. Our Cardiff boys and girls are not only looking to beat the record, but smash it, by ‘Lacrossing' for 12 hours, from 8am to 8pm on the 25th April.
If, or rather when successful, we will witness a double world record, as both men and women teams will take part in this event, described by Guinness as a ‘Lacrosse Marathon'. Understand the challenge: in this game, players are allowed to hit their opponent with their stick! Sounds like fun, but we are happy to hear that they have a paramedic pitch-side all day long.
They will be playing the Cardiff University Lacrosse Club Alumni and hope to raise at least £25,000 for Right To Play. Why not support them on their JustGiving Page.
Thank you to the players, we're thinking of you!
