Ambassador Profile - Laura Jones

Featured Ambassador - Laura Jones, Kings College London

What do you like about your University?

For me, King's is a vibrant and cosmopolitan university with a lot going on. At the heart of a multi-faceted city Kings is full of opportunities that will help to develop skills above and beyond the purely academic ones.

What have you done for Right To Play at Kings?

Over the past 12-months as Student Ambassador at Kings I have been involved within many expanses of RTP. In partnership with Leo Matlock their Education Partnerships Manager l have managed to secure annual sponsorship for RTP from all three in-house catering partners at Kings, organise street collections, and provide support on national campaigns and, in spring of this year I was involved in the second annual Student Ambassor day at LSE. A truly inspiring day that saw students from universities across the UK take part in over 5 hours of fun-filled activities and learning modules.

Why do you support Right To Play?

Sport has always been an important part of my life – and has probably shaped me into the person l am today. l support RTP knowing that their mission, vision and values reflect that similar to my own, how the transformative power of sport and play can reach and teach like no other medium.

What have you got planned for the year ahead at Kings?

The year ahead at Kings will bring about many new and exciting fundraising challenges for me. As an individual l will be undertaking several adrenaline-filled challenges including an abseil, a skydive and allocation permitted, l shall be running the London Marathon in April (fingers crossed). As for events within Kings.. watch this space.

Why did you become a Student Ambassador and what have you learnt from the role?

I decided to become student ambassador for RTP because l would like in my small way make a difference and when united with others this difference can become greater. What have l learnt from my role? I have found that when they learn about the cause, many people want to support Right To Play.
