What We Do
Right To Play works in 4 refugee camps in Eastern Chad: Iridimi, Mile, Treguine and Bredjine. Regular and inclusive sport and play activities provide children and youth in the camps and surrounding communities with an opportunity to be engaged, and contribute to improving health, contributing to life skills, and providing structure and normalisation to their lives. Furthermore, partner organisations have expressed that the implementation of sport and play activities in the camps and surrounding communities is leading to an encouraging increase in school attendance. Right To Play directly addresses issues around peace and conflict resolution through developing and implementing local, cost-effective, and sustainable programs. Right To Play’s approach to peace-building and conflict resolution among children affected by armed conflict and war is guided by the Convention on the Rights of the Child.
So Far
Working in partnership with organisations such as the Red Cross, so far we have reached approximately 6,000 children and 500 teachers in Iridimi, Treguine, Bredjine and Iridimi refugee camps; and 1,000 children and youth in the host communities of Iriba, Hadjer Hadid and Guereda.
